In July our commercial team of Engineers completed a project to renew and upgrade the central heating system at St Michaels First School in Minehead. Working with Somerset County Council and the school we proposed to remove the existing cast iron radiators and one pipe heating system and replace with new heating circuits and SPC high-level fan coil convectors. In an effort to reduce cost the project was completed using Viega stainless steel press fittings, this dramatically reduced the time on-site and associated labour costs while still providing the school with a durable long-lasting system for the future. The redesign allowed for the new system to accommodate high-level fan convectors providing direct comfortable heat for the students and staff at controllable temperatures for each individual zone. The use of high-level heaters cleared valuable space on the classroom floor and avoided the high-temperature contact that staff and students had with the existing system.
